Dr. Deepak Kataria
Director, IPJunction, Inc.

Dr. Deepak Kataria has over 20 years’ experience in telecom and networking industry having worked in varied roles in the entire ecosystem comprising of service provider, system OEM, silicon vendor and system integrator. Currently he serves as a Director at IP Junction Inc., consulting clients on new solution opportunities, target markets, key differentiators, product management consulting and creating ecosystem partnerships for the successful execution of identified opportunities.

Prior to starting his consulting career, he spent 8 years working for Agere Systems and LSI (silicon vendor) on ATLANTA ATM port controller, ATM switch fabric, IP-based Network Processor, PI-Fabric, DPI engine, DSP, Link Layer Processor, Ethernet over SONET products in a varied roles such as Systems Architect, Applications Manager, Systems Integration Manager, and Advanced System Prototyping Manager. He spearheaded efforts to build competitive value propositions by acquiring and developing hardware, software, and development tools necessary to integrate Agere Systems & LSI’s products into both existing and emerging application platforms.
 
Prior to Agere Systems and LSI, he spent 7 years working for Lucent Technologies and Fujitsu (system OEMs) on MX1000 ATM Switch, Fetex-150, AC120/60, and Packet Star Router in varied roles such as Systems Engineer, Network Consultant and Systems Architect.  His work included system engineering requirements and system architectures for the Lucent’s product portfolio to deliver on the value proposition of best in class voice/data integration via QoS, routing services and traffic management. He led traffic management and performance testing standards work for Lucent Technologies and Fujitsu in the ATM Forum.

Prior to Lucent Technologies and Fujitsu, he spent 3 years at AT&T Bell Labs (service provider) where he worked on tele-traffic engineering issues and supported the development the first prototype build of ATM terminal adaptor (code named MINT) for voice, video and data over ATM at 155 Mb/s.

Before starting his consulting career with IP Junction Inc., he consulted HCL America (system integrator) for 2 years on the development of forward-looking solution prototypes such as cloud-oriented video-centric enterprise and network architectures (caching, analytics, and managed content delivery), enterprise mobility solutions, SMB gateway leveraging cloud services and policy-based networking.

He holds 10 US patents and has several others in pending status and has published extensively in industry and IEEE publications. He served as Guest Editor for IEEE Communication Magazine Special Issue on Femto Cells (Sept. 2009 & Jan. 2010) and currently serves as the Industry Co-Chair for IEEE Advanced Networks and Telecommunication Systems Conference (IEEE ANTS 2011). He holds a B.S. in Electronics and Communications Engineering, and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University, NJ. He recently completed Harvard’s Emerging Leader’s professional program on virtual leadership covering strategy, customer focus, corporate governance, and innovation.

Prof. Dr. Raj Jain
Washington University in Saint Louis

Prof. Dr. Raj Jain is a Fellow of IEEE, a Fellow of ACM, a winner of ACM SIGCOMM Test of Time award, CDAC-ACCS Foundation Award 2009, and ranks among the top 50 in Citeseer's list of Most Cited Authors in Computer Science. Dr. Jain is currently a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis. Previously, he was one of the Co-founders of Nayna Networks, Inc - a next generation telecommunications systems company in San Jose, CA. He was a Senior Consulting Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation in Littleton, Mass and then a professor of Computer and Information Sciences at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

He is the author of ``Art of Computer Systems Performance Analysis,'' which won the 1991 ``Best-Advanced How-to Book, Systems'' award from Computer Press Association. His fourth book entitled " High-Performance TCP/IP: Concepts, Issues, and Solutions," was published by Prentice Hall in November 2003. He is co-editor of "Quality of Service Architectures for Wireless Networks: Performance Metrics and Management," published in February 2010.

Mr. Naresh Shah
Hewlett Packard

Naresh Shah President, ESSN India R&D, Hewlett Packard, serves as the local HP ESSN executive responsible for site management, as well as aligning customer-facing strategies, assisting in product deliverables, optimizing operational efficiencies, and promoting collaboration across all ESSN business units in India.
Prior to this, Naresh served as MD of Novell India Development Center and VP, Global Engineering Strategy with overall responsibility for all aspects of the IDC's product development activities. Naresh joined Novell US in 2006, as VP of the Global Engineering Strategy. In 2007, he was assigned additional responsibility as Managing Director of Novell’s India Development Center in Bangalore and  moved with his family from New Jersey to Bangalore.

Naresh holds a B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT, Kharagpur and M.S. in Computer and Information Science from the Ohio State University, Columbus.

 

Mr. I.Vijaya Kumar
INK

I.Vijaya Kumar (known as IVK) is Chief Innovation Officer of INK which is an organization focused on innovation from young economies of the world. He drives INK’s innovation and technology strategy to inspire ideas and incubate projects of both business and social nature and showcase them on a global arena. Prior to joining INK, he was CTO of Wipro’s IT businesses covering Wipro Technologies, Wipro Infotech and Wipro BPO. His responsibilities included Technology Strategy Planning; Governance of Center’s of Excellence, Innovation Process & external innovation, Technical Stream Management and Technology alliances with industry and academic forums.

He has been with ICT industry for the last 24 plus years and is one of the leading experts in innovation management and advanced technologies incubation in India.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering in electronics & communications and did an advanced leadership program for senior executives from McGill University in collaboration with Lancaster University, UK and IIM, Bangalore. He holds certifications in ISO 9000, SEI CMM &Technology forecasting and is an experienced consultant in technology and innovation management areas in ICT industry.

He is a lead presenter in many forums covering telecom industry, media and financial & market analysts. (e.g. Innovation council of Confederation of Indian Industry, Technology expert committee of National innovation council, Technology development for Indian languages, World Economic Forum’s innovation and Cloud computing groups etc.)

His current interests include the exploration of new wireless devices, intelligent systems, integration of IT and non IT systems and ICT led innovation in social sector.

 

Mr. Balamuralidhar P
Head, TCS Innovation Labs, Bangalore

Balamuralidhar P is heading TCS Innovation Lab at Tata Consultancy Services Ltd (TCS), Bangalore. He has obtained  Bachelor of Technology  from Kerala University in 1985 and Master of Technology (MTech) from IIT Kanpur in 1987. Major area of research is in applications of Digital Signal processing and Networked Embedded Systems. Before TCS his research careers were with Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research (SAMEER) and Sasken Communications Ltd. 

He has over 22 years of research and development experience in Signal Processing, Embedded Systems and Wireless Communications. He has over 50 publications in various international journals and conferences and 12 patents filed.  Some of the innovation projects handled have been recognized through awards. Balamuralidhar was the lead of TCS participation in two EU FP6 research consortium programs namely My Adaptive Global NET (MAGNET) and End to End Reconfigurability (E2R) in the area of next generation wireless communications. He is also contributing to TCS participation in National bodies like Broadband Wireless Consortium India (BWCI), Global ICT Standards for India (GISFI). His areas of research interest are in Networked Embedded Systems, Cognitive Networks and Internet of Things.

 

Dr. Sanjoy Paul
Accenture

Sanjoy Paul  is a Senior Vice President at Accenture serving as the Country-Director and Head of Accenture Technology Labs India. Prior to joining Accenture, Sanjoy was Associate Vice President and General Manager at Infosys Technologies where he led research and innovation in the field of Communications, Media and Entertainment. Earlier, he was also a Research Professor at Rutgers University, Founder of RelevantAd Technologies, Director of Wireless Networking Research at Bell Labs, Lucent Technologies, and CTOs of two start-up companies based in New York. Sanjoy is known for many inventions, including, iSmart Power Strip, an award-winning innovation in the field of Energy Management; Reliable Multicast Transport Protocol, one of the first reliable transport protocols over IP Multicast; and Smart Content Caching, the key concept behind Lucent Technology’s Internet Content Distribution and Delivery product line.

Sanjoy has over twenty years of technology expertise, specifically in the areas of Mobile Wireless Networking, Wireless Sensor Networks, Energy Management and Sustainability, Future Internet Architecture and Design, Multicasting, Content Distribution, Media Streaming, Intelligent Caching, and Security. He served as an editor of IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, Guest Editor of IEEE Network Special Issue on Multicasting, Steering Committee member of IEEE COMSNETS, General Chair of ICDCN 2011, IMSAA 2010 and COMSWARE 2007; Technical Program Chair of COMSWARE 2006, and as a Technical Program Committee Member of several IEEE and ACM International conferences.

Sanjoy has authored two books, the first one on Multicasting (Kluwer, 1996), and the most recent one on Digital Video Distribution (Wiley, 2010), published over 100 papers in International Journals and refereed Conference Proceedings, and authored over 100 US patents (30 granted, 70+ pending). He is the co-recipient of 1997 William R. Bennett award from IEEE Communications Society for the best original paper in IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking and the co-recipient of Infosys Excellence Award for Innovations and Thought Leadership for the invention of iSmart Power Strip. Sanjoy, with his colleague, also received MIT Technology Reviews’ Grand Challenges for India 2010 award for innovation in Smart Energy.

Sanjoy holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from IIT Kharagpur, an M.S and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an MBA from the Wharton Business School, University of Pennsylvania. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of the IET.

 

Dr. Ravi Mittal
IP Infusion

Ravi Mittal is currently serving as Managing Director of IP Infusion's R&D Center of Excellence in Bangalore. Prior to joining IP Infusion, Ravi served at Nokia India as Director of Engineering leading multinational teams at Finland, UK, and India in work on runtime, mobile phone security, and device management technologies for Symbian Smartphones. He was also VP of Engineering at Symbian India where he led the Core Systems and Protocols group.  Ravi has also served in Aricent, IBM, and IIT Madras. Ravi has a B. Eng. in Electronics and Telecommunication from the University of Jabalpur, a M. Tech. in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, and a PhD in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
