Tutorial 1: Architectures for the Next Generation Internet and the Future Networks
Date & Time: 18th Dec 2011 from 10:00 AM to 1.15 PM
Presenter:

Prof. Dr. Raj Jain
Washington University in Saint Louis
Jain@cse.wustl.edu
URL: http://www.cse.wustl.edu/~jain
Abstract: This tutorial on latest advances in future networking architectures is designed for researchers, engineers and managers involved in future networking product strategies.  Networking research funding agencies in USA, Europe, Japan, and other countries are encouraging research on revolutionary architectures that may or may not be bound by the restrictions of the current TCP/IP based Internet. We present an overview of a number of such research projects and activities in this direction.
Keywords: Clean-Slate Research Programs, Internet 3.0, Virtualization, ID-Locator Separation, Content Centric Networking, OpenFlow, and Delay-tolerant networks.

Tutorial 4: Cloud Technologies - Overview & Security as a Service in the Cloud
Date & Time: 18th Dec 2011 from 2:00 PM to 5.30 PM
Presenter:

Hewlett Packard, India.
Dr. Dinkar
Sitaram
Mrs. Geetha Manjunath

Mr. Marcus Wong
Wireless Advanced Research & Standards organization
Huawei North America R&D center, USA

Abstract:

The tutorial provides a detailed overview of cloud computing models, cloud platforms, application development paradigms, concepts and technologies. It describes the basic foundations needed for developing cloud applications covering compute/storage scaling, data parallelism, virtualization, MapReduce and SaaS. Approaches to address key challenges of a cloud infrastructure, such as scalability, availability, multi-tenancy, security and management are also addressed.

Cloud based computing services has seen an explosion of growth in IOT. With its attractive features and low cost factors, even traditional wireless operators are getting into the act, such as considering and deploying cloud based RAN concepts in an effort to reduce the roll-out costs of mega wireless infrastructure and maximize return of investments to support data and service growth. In addition to the SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models offering by the traditional cloud services, another type of SaaS: Security as a Service is gaining traction to combat threats and vulnerabilities brought to the mobile networks as a result of more and more powerful mobile nodes in the form of smartphones flooding the network and making sophisticated attacks possible anytime and anywhere. We will explore Security as a Service in the cloud and how it can bring value to the market place and to the operators.

Tutorial 6: Optical Networking for Future Internet
Date & Time: 18th Dec 2011 from 2:00 PM to 5.30 PM
Presenter:

Prof. Dr. Byrav Ramamurthy
University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA
Abstract: This tutorial will present the state-of-the-art in the field of "Optical networks" and emphasize the relevance of optical networks to Future Internet architectures. Optical networks encompass traditional networks operating on optical fiber as well as wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) networks. The topics which will be covered in this tutorial include optical communication basics, optical network design, optical network modeling, routing and wavelength assignment algorithms, traffic grooming, optical network survivability and optical network simulation tools. The tutorial will cover the role of optical networks for wide area, metro area and access networks.

Keywords: Optical communication, Optical Circuit Switching (OCS), Optical
Burst Switching (OBS), Optical Packet Switching (OPS), Wavelength
Routing, Routing and Wavelength Assignment (RWA),
